DCM may be used in whole or in part with other Electrol software modules.
operations-specific information and control within material handling systems. DCM offers
a variety of operating platforms for both hardware and software based the customers
specific needs. DCM offers real-time and historical information for both maintenance and
operations personnel for any material handling system.
Typical configurations involve the DCM connected to one or more material handling system
programmable controllers. The DCM collects information for immediate display and/or
database management. Furthermore, system parameters may be viewed or modified through DCM.
DCM provides the following features and operational advantages:

The Sortation Management Controller is a configurable, scalable system which provide accurate
sortation control and monitoring for high-speed sliding shoe and wheel-style sorters. SMC utilizes a
PLC-based real-time controller for divert and product tracking and a personal computer-based sortation
manager.
SMC offers many options to product distribution ranging from manual keypad input to fully automated
input from bar code identification scanning. Host interface software modules allow for both instantaneous
and "batch" or "wave" sortation solutions. Divert confirmation through a host interface is also supported.
Typical with each SMC is the integration of the DCM software modules to provide the necessary level of
maintenance and diagnostics information. In addition to the standard DCM, the SMC allows display and
manipulation of such parameters as sorter speed, lane-full timing, oilers, etc. In addition, DCM tracks
statistics such as total, max and min throughput, sorter run and down times, scanner read parameters
and product counts.
The Material Routing Supervisor is a software toolkit that is used primarily in applications involving a
widespread, highly-distributed sortation/routing system. These types of systems are common to electronics
and light manufacturing systems where product must be routed uniquely from station to station based
upon ever-changing build requirements.
The MRS is a "gateway" personal computer-based system that provides a buffer between a host
computer and the material handling PLC's. The host computer downloads only a requirements
recipe and the MRS does the work of routing product between the various PLC areas. Typically,
each PLC would have a scanner at each decision point along the conveyor path. The PLC would
solicit instruction from the MRS and either divert with return confirmation or allow product to continue.
MRS uses software modules developed for DCM and SMC. This modular integration allows customers
to grow their systems without having obsolete control solutions.
